Find Your Zen : Private Day Tour
◆Tour Details
About one hour by Shinkansen from Tokyo, your journey begins at Mishima Station.
Set out on a day trip to discover the beauty and culture of Japan in the Shizuoka–Izu region.

First, you will head to the Kannami Buddha Statue Museum. Here, you will learn about the fundamentals of Buddhist statues, including their philosophy and artistic beauty. You will also encounter statues designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan, allowing you to experience more deeply the world of Japanese spirituality and aesthetic sensibility.

Next, you will visit the serene Ganjoju-in Temple, surrounded by quiet tranquility. At this temple, you will view National Treasure Buddhist statues created by the master sculptor Unkei. By visiting after learning the basics of Buddhist statues at the museum, you will gain a deeper level of understanding. In the beautifully maintained garden, you can slow your breathing and feel a profound sense of peace.

If time permits, we highly recommend joining the optional Jizo Amulet Carving experience. After appreciating Buddhist statues, carving your own protective Jizo statue will help you feel their depth even more. In the quiet atmosphere, carving can feel almost like meditation, bringing a deep sense of fulfillment.

The day concludes at Rakan, an exclusive "hidden gem" restaurant nestled in the mountains of Izu. Catering to only one group per day, Rakan (named after the Buddhist saints who attained enlightenment) offers a dining experience that is truly Zen.

The highlight is the seasonal appetizer course, artfully arranged across the entire table like a living canvas. For the main course, you will grate fresh, locally grown wasabi yourself, savoring its pure aroma and delicate spice—a final, sensory touch to your journey through Shizuoka.

Discover the hidden charm of Shizuoka — where culture, cuisine, and Zen come together in quiet harmony.
