Co-creation Project with the Shizuoka Prefectural Government’s Cultural Properties Division

WasabiTravel was selected for the “Shizuoka Inbound Tourism Innovation 2025” project, an initiative by Shizuoka Prefecture, and developed inbound tourism experiences utilizing cultural heritage resources in Shizuoka, including Buddhist statues in the Izu region.

As part of the project, we invited two international staff members from JapanTravel, a travel media platform, to participate in a model tour. Based on their feedback and insights from an international perspective, we refined and enhanced the tour program to create a more engaging experience for overseas visitors.

Shizuoka Prefectural Izu Sogo High School – Tourism Business Program

We worked with high school students to discover the unique attractions of Izu City and develop new tourism experiences.

The students learned about the region’s history and culture and created their own tours based on themes they selected themselves. WasabiTravel supported them in developing the tour concepts, designing itineraries, and preparing for the implementation of the tours.

Shizuoka Prefectural Numazu Commercial High School – Regional Strategy Program

We are working with four students enrolled in the “Regional Strategy” program at Numazu Commercial High School to develop and support a business plan aimed at preserving and making use of traditional local festivals and cultural practices passed down through generations.

As part of the pilot project, the students chose Bon Odori (traditional Japanese dance) as their theme and created opportunities for local residents, high school students, and international students to come together. Rather than treating a traditional festival as simply a one-time event, we are working to transform it into a new cultural tourism experience rooted in the local community, one that can be enjoyed by people from different cultural backgrounds and across national borders.

伊豆市産業振興協議会

伊豆市産業振興協議会(伊豆市DMO)主催、WasabiTravelの企画・運営により、「伊豆のものづくりバスツアー」を実施しました。

Izu City Industrial Promotion Council

Organized by the Izu City Industrial Promotion Council (Izu City DMO) and planned and operated by WasabiTravel, the “Izu Monozukuri Bus Tour” was designed to introduce participants to Izu’s local industries and the people behind them.

Through hands-on experiences, including making chopsticks from plum trees grown in Izu City and visiting factories of locally rooted companies, the tour offered participants an opportunity to discover the unique appeal of Izu’s craftsmanship, industries, and local people.
